Language and linguistics all rolled up into an owl pellet and expelled into your ears!

When speaking English, have you ever wondered why silent letters exist? Why do we capitalize the pronoun “I” and not “you”? Why are a group of owls called a parliament? Why are there spelling differences between British and American English?

We have asked ourselves the same questions, too! As The Owlish Folk, Amanda and Dave answer your questions about the complexities of the English language and report our findings through our podcast. We do not claim to be experts; we are merely language-lovers like yourselves and enjoy discussing the history, science, and culture surrounding the language that is spoken by 1.5 billion people throughout the world.

Please email any questions you may have about English to theowlishfolk@gmail.com, and tune in to hear our answers!

We are language lovers who would often regale one another with stories and facts about the English language. We would annoy our friends with the information, but we decided a podcast would be better! Thus, The Owlish Folk podcast was started.
